Over the isolation period, I decided to bake an apple pie using a recipe from Taste of Home (https://www.tasteofhome.com/recipes/apple-pie/) I chose this recipe due to its simplicity and minimal ingredients. The website also features a quick two minute guide to baking the pie.
Here's the recipe that's from the website!
- 1/2 cup of sugar
- 1/2 cup of brown sugar
- 3 tablespoons of all purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon of ground ginger
- 1 teaspoon of cinnamon
- 1teaspoon of nutmeg
- 6-7 cups of thinly sliced green apples
- 1 tablespoon of lemon juice
- 1 tablespoon of butter
- 1 large egg white
- Pie pastry
- Optional: sugar and ice cream/custard
The pastry recipe that I followed was from https://www.livewellbakeoften.com/homemade-pie-crust/. It wasn't too hard to make but I think my flour measurements were a little off as the pastry was quite soft. It also crumbled a little when I was rolling it but still turned out delicious and flaky (just with a few holes)!
I highly recommend this super simple recipe that will taste too good to resist!
Such a cutie pie
