The first thing I made after self-quarantine when I got home was bread! I was watching a few videos online and realised baking bread isn't as hard as I thought it was and decided to give it a try. We also had some left over yeast and flour that wasn't being used. This recipe was from https://gatherforbread.com/easy-perfect-yeast-bread/ by Melanie! I chose it because it seemed really easy and only needed a couple ingredients.
Here's the recipe from the website!
- 1 tablespoon of active dry yeast
- 1 tablespoon of sugar
- 1 tablespoon of salt
- 2 cups of warm water
- 5 1/2 to 6 cups of all purpose flour
- extra flour for dusting
This recipe was also really easy to remember since most of the measurements were one tablespoon!
I managed to make three small loaves which turned out quite well but slightly crispier (maybe because I skipped the boiling water in a pan step!). I left the dough to rise for about an hour and then shaped it right after- some recipes do a double rise but one rise was more than enough for this recipe. We had this with butter and some steak for dinner!
The second image is another batch that I made on a separate day but using the same recipe- this time I added a pan of some water and it made the bread much softer on the inside and less hard!
